UPDATE: Reserve deputy killed after semi hits him on I-70 & Woods Chapel Rd.

UPDATE - Officials confirm Jeffrey Koontz was a reserve deputy with the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office in Iowa. 

No other information is immediately available. 

Police are still looking for the semi truck that reportedly hit Koontz Saturday night.

The investigation continues.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --

A pedestrian was struck and killed at I-70 & Woods Chapel Road just before 11:00 Saturday night.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says Jeffrey M. Koontz, 39, of Council Bluffs, Iowa was struck and killed while  in the roadway on eastbound I-70 just east of Woods Chapel Road.

The Patrol says an unknown semi driver hit Koontz and fled the scene.

Two other vehicles, a 2008 Chevy Equinox, and a 2007 Saturn Ion, also struck Koontz.

Those drivers stopped and are cooperating with police.

Koontz was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation is underway.
