PARK HILL, Mo.UPDATE 2:15 PM 10/20/2017: Park Hill High School was briefly placed on lockdown Friday but it has since been lifted and everyone is safe, according to the school.

According to the Park Hill School District website, the Platte County Sheriff's Department has a student in custody who made a violent threat. A Sheriff's Department spokesman said this incident appears to be unrelated to a threat made Thursday night.

School staff became aware of an internal threat being made by a student and put the school on lockdown at about 2:30 p.m., according to a statement from the Platte County Sheriff's Department. The lockdown was lifted at about 2:45 p.m. after the student was taken into custody by a Platte County Sheriff's deputy.

Surrounding schools also locked their doors as a precaution.

On Thursday, the district said that police were investigating a note threatening violence at the school on Friday.

Principal Brad Kincheloe said the school immediately notified law enforcement, and there will be several officers at the school throughout the day on Friday.
