KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A group of concerned citizens called out congress Friday night over the sequester cuts that are hitting across the country.
Protesters from Organizing for Action rallied on the Country Club Plaza. Armed with signs outlining the cuts, they worked to educate voters about the widespread effects. They also called on voters to put pressure on their elected leaders.
The group feels the problems lie in the fact that Washington just won't compromise.
"Compromise is not a bad word and I think we keep hearing 'I won't compromise, I won't,'" said Francis Farah with Organizing for Action. "A democracy only works as well as the good will of the people who are governing us."
Protesters called on congress to make smarter cuts that don't hurt the middle class which is still recovering from the recession.
