Days after a new study finds red light cameras in Kansas City may not be as safe as first thought, protesters are calling for their removal.
Saturday members of the Liberty Restoration Project met at 39th and Southwest Tfwy., which is one of the first locations to have the red light cameras.
A story in the Kansas City Star said crashes were up 18 percent.
The camera went online back in 2009.
The paper said to date that more than 200,000 tickets have been written for people who run red lights.
The fine is $100.
