KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Regional efforts for Alex’s Lemonade Stand reached the $1 million mark this year.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is working to find a cure for childhood cancer.
HyVee presented a check today from fundraising efforts to Liz Scott, the mother of the little girl who started the now global effort.
“We’ve been able to raise $80 million and fund so much research to find new cures is something I think is beyond extraordinary and something I would have never imagined,” Scott said.
Kansas City first got involved in Alex’s Lemonade Stand in 2004 when a little boy in remission from cancer started his own lemonade stand.
It has since expanded to hundreds of volunteers around the metro.
