KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas City woman is being held in jail after animal control found more than a dozen animals living in their own feces in her home.
Animal control rescued 14 cats and one dog from the home of 58-year-old Delores Metcalf. Now the animals are at the Kansas City Pet Project.
This isn't the first time Animal Control bas been to Metcalf's home, in the 3700 block of N. Bales in northern Kansas City.
Authorities seized 150 cats, a dog and a ferret from her home in September of 2011.
They also found 50 dead cats in the home-- including several in the freezer.
In that case, more than 80 of the animals died from disease in just over one month.
Animal Control returned to the property after neighbors complained about the smell-- and planned a return trip Tuesday to check on any remaining cats.
Metcalf is being held on one count of occupying an unsafe dwelling, one count of exceeding the limit of the number of dogs and cats and 14 charges of abuse or neglect of animals.
