KANSAS CITY, Mo. - From its pet shelter to its emergency shelter -- and all the programs in between -- the Rose Brooks Center served more than 16,000 clients last year. The agency honored its force of volunteers Thursday night, including our own Mark Clegg.
"We have over 3,000 volunteers. In comparison, we have 90 employees," explained Scott Mason, development manager for the center. "We could not do the work we do and serve the number of clients we do without our volunteers."
Many of those volunteers were honored at the domestic violence agency's annual Volunteer Appreciation Party. The center presented special recognition to a number of individuals, groups and companies for the gift of their time and talents.
Clegg, who has worked with Rose Brooks for almost 10 years, was honored to receive the Media Advocate Award at the ceremony.
