KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Thousands of runners will hit the streets this Saturday for one of Kansas City’s largest half-marathons, the fifth annual “Rock the Parkway.”
The race has become one of the most popular half marathons in the Midwest; both the half-marathon and the 5K are sold out.
The race will cause traffic to be rerouted near the Country Club Plaza. The half-marathon starts at 7:30 a.m. on Ward Parkway, near Wornall. The course takes runners north on Ward Parkway; they’ll turn around at Loose Park, and then head back south to the finish line.
Portions of Ward Parkway will be shut down for several hours. “You may have a little delay,” said KC Race Coordinator Jenny Chronister. “Plan ahead. Add another 15 minutes. We know it can be an inconvenience, but it’s such a neat way to highlight our city.”
Proceeds from the race benefit Union Station’s Science City.
