KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The southbound lanes of the Buck O'Neil bridge were closed to traffic for temporary repairs about 2:00 a.m. Saturday.

The Bridge will remain closed through December 1st.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is set to begin a rehabilitation project in three phases.

All southbound traffic was closed this morning.

The second phase will be the switching of northbound traffic to the southbound lanes to work on the northbound side of the bridge. That phase is expected to happen in early August.

The third phase will return all lanes to their normal traffic pattern, which is expected December 1st, depending on the weather.

The more than sixty year old bridge sees about 40,000 vehicles each work day.

Crews will be working to repair cables, railing and expansion joints on the structure.
