A KU student said the incident happened in a back parking lot of a dorm on campus.
LAWRENCE, Kan. - The University of Kansas Public Safety office is investigating a sexual battery incident on the Lawrence campus.
A female student reported she was sexually battered on Saturday, around 2 a.m. behind Joseph R. Pearson Hall.
The student told officers she asked a male subject to give her a ride home after a party near 31st and Louisiana, in Lawrence.
Instead of driving her home, she says the suspect took her behind the education building and battered her.
"It goes back to that a lot of people don't understand that no means no," law student Monica Henning said.
The suspect is described a light-skinned black or Hispanic male with short hair, driving a red four-door vehicle with cloth seats.
The KU Public Safety Office reminds students to use the buddy system if going out late at night; don't ask strangers for rides; use Saferide and Safebus as alternatives to getting home safely.
If you have any information regarding this incident, you are asked to call the KU Public Safety Office at 785-864-5900 or the KU Stoppers at 864-8888.
