KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police are investigating a homicide in the historic old northeast neighborhood of Kansas City.
Four blocks around site of the shooting was taped off Tuesday afternoon.
A woman was shot and killed Tuesday at Oakley and Thompson. Police have identified the victim as 40-year-old Tina Castro.
Crime scene investigators spent the afternoon processing the scene for evidence as detectives canvassed the area to look for witnesses in the shooting.
On Thursday, police announced two 16-year-old boys are being held at the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center on charged related to the shooting death.
People who live in the neighborhood said gunfire is a common occurrence.
“It doesn't matter what time of day it is, you always hear shots over you gotta hit the floor and hope you don't shot,” neighbor Jason Painter said.
Tuesday’s shooting marks Kansas City 20th homicide of the year, which remains at a five-year low.
