SMITHVILLE, Mo. — A Smithville police officer and a suspect were both injured in a shooting following a disturbance Saturday night.
The suspect has been identified as Larry Caton, 63. As of Sunday, he was listed in stable condition at an area hospital
Officers were called to the 800 block of Cherry Lane at about 9 p.m.
The officer suffered minor injuries and was treated and released.
The officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave, pending an investigation by the Clay County Investigative Squad.
