Supporters and protestors outside the Uptown Theater for President Obama's speech

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Supporters and protestors were outside the Uptown Theater for President Barack Obama's speech on Wednesday.

Supporters of President Obama felt encouraged and motivated after his speech, and dissenters peacefully expressed their opinions.

Some protestors advocated for peace in the Middle East.

“I want the killing to stop. I want Israel to stop oppressing the Gazans,” Emily Stuwart said.

Others said the president doesn’t support the middle class.

“What I want to know is who is paying for this barbeque and breakfast,” Mark Madison said.

Spectators inside the Uptown Theater were excited to hear the president’s ideas.

“I like that he pointed out that Congress is finding it difficult to basically pass laws,” Tulsi Singh said.

But not everyone with a ticket was able to get in. John Palmer had a ticket, but he missed the deadline.

“I got a ticket to get in, but when I got here they said that they had stopped taking them so I am out here with everybody else.”
