KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Supporters will rally around a fired worker at a former Catholic church and help others at the same time.
Colleen Simon worked for Saint Francis Xavier Church, but after an article mentioned her lesbian partner, the church fired her.
On Saturday, supporters will rally behind her and collect canned food.
“We’ll take it too a food bank that does not discriminate against LGBT individuals because we’ll know it will still be donated across Kansas City accordingly,” Jennifer Harris with GetEqual said. “I believe truly that is the best we can do with this situation.”
The rally is from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. at the diocese’s offices.
