KANSAS CITY, Mo - Even though a Kansas City father is currently in Iraq, he was able to make it to his fifth grader's father-daughter dance Friday, thanks to technology and a little imagination.
Maggie Duncan was worried she couldn't go to the father-daughter dance at St. Peter's Catholic School because her dad is overseas working at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. But on Thursday night, she and her mother came with a great idea.
Maggie decided to take the family's iPad to the dance Friday night. She used Skype to show her dad the decorations, let him listen to the music and even share a couple virtual dances.
"I thought it would be a great idea. I just didn't know how we would talk because it was going to be really loud in there," Maggie said.
But the night is one she will always remember.
"It means a lot to me that he'll do that for me," Maggie said. "It really makes me happy."
