KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City is bustling with activity this weekend. Check out some of the events on our radar for the weekend of June 20-22.
Big Slick KC
Poker, celebrities and charity. This weekend-long event brings celebrities to Kansas City to raise money for Children’s Mercy. The celebrity softball game at Kauffman Stadium is Friday at 5:30 p.m. and celebrity bowling at Pinstripes Bowling in Prairiefire is Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The weekend concludes with the Party and Auction at Arvest Bank Theatre at the Midland Saturday night. Doors open at 7 p.m. Actors Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis, Rob Riggle, Eric Stonestreet and David Koechner will host the event.
Royals (Friday is part of Big Slick)
You can cheer on the KC Royals this weekend at Kauffmann Stadium. The Royals play in a three-game series against the Mariners. Tickets for Friday night are part of Big Slick KC and the game begins at 7:10 p.m. The games on Saturday and Sunday begin at 1:10 p.m. You can buy tickets online or at the stadium.
Pride Fest in the West Bottoms
Show your pride at KC Pride Fest in the West Bottoms. The festival will have food vendors and entertainment including DJs, artists and other performers throughout the weekend. Art of the Car Concours at KC Art Institute
If you’re into vintage cars, this is the event for you. The Art of the Car Concours features more than 200 vintage, classic and special-interest vehicles to the Kansas City Art Institute Campus. The event will also feature artists known for their automotive-themed work. The event is on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Night of the Proms at Sprint Center
Night of the Proms at the Sprint Center brings classic and pop music together. The featured artists include Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, The Pointer Sisters and Nile Rodgers & Chic. They will perform their #1 hits backed by Il Novecento, Belgium’s world renowned classical orchestra, a 24-voice choir and an 8-piece electric band headed by British pop star John “Music” Miles. The concert is on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $27.
Hillary Rodham Clinton at The Midland
Former Secretary of State and former First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton will be in Kansas City to discuss her book Hard Choices. Vivien Jennings, founder and president of the local bookstore Rainy Day Books, will host a conversation with Hillary Rodham Clinton at The Midland. They will discuss the crises, choices and challenges Clinton faced during her time as Secretary of State. The event on Sunday is sold out.
We Will Rock You at Starlight Theatre
This head banging musical features the greatest hits from the legendary British rock band, Queen. It’s a multi-award winning and record-breaking musical featuring the hits “Another One Bites The Dust,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and “We Will Rock You.” This weekend is the final time to see the show in Kansas City. You can get tickets at the Starlight Theatre or online . The musical runs Friday through Sunday at 8:30 p.m.
Tour of Kansas City Cycling Festival
Get on your bikes and ride! The Tour of KC is a three-day cycling festival to celebrate health and wellness in KC. It’s great for every level of bicycle enthusiast from beginners to those who could compete in the Tour de France. Check out the Tour of KC’s website for race and event information.
Jazz in the Woods
Get ready for some smooth listening at Jazz in the Woods . This free event at Corporate Woods in Overland Park, Kan., offers a variety of jazz music and raises money for local children’s charities. Even the kids can get involved at the children’s area with crafts, face painting and inflatables. Musicians will perform on Friday from 6:30-11 p.m. and Saturday from 5:45-11 p.m.
Kansas City T-Bones
Let’s play ball. The Kansas City T-Bones host the Laredo Lemurs at home in a three-game series this weekend. The T-Bones will play Friday and Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. You can get tickets and more information about the ballpark on the T-Bones’ website .
