Call her The Cheese Wiz! Call her The Head Cheese! Say that everything she makes is “gouda!”

Sarah Kaufmann, The Cheese Lady, has heard them…and said them…all.

On Wednesday morning and for the next three days, she is not using gouda as her artistic medium. At the new flagship Hen House in Leawood, Sarah will be searching for KC Wolf in a 300-pound hunk of cheddar.

Mild cheddar for a ferocious mascot. In fact, this cheese, from Henning Cheeses in Wisconsin, is a gold medal winner. Perfect for the work of a world champion cheese artist.

Sarah, naturally a Wisconsin native, holds the Guinness World Record for Largest Cheese Carving at 925 pounds.

She says that the cheese called to her, not the other way around, when it came to making this her living.

In addition to making masterpieces, Sarah can educate you on everything cheesy as she works.

By the way, all of the leftovers and most of her finished product winds up being eaten.

And, yes, Sarah nibbles a little along the way, too.  She says she’ll never be a starving artist.

The new Hen House in Leawood is an attraction in itself and this weekend’s grand opening is the ideal spot for a sculptor like Sarah.

She’s the Picasso of Provolone!  The Rodin of Ricotta!

In fact, I don’t want to be a “muenster” about this, but she’s better than those guys.

Her work is beautiful AND delicious!
