KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The U.S. and Missouri Departments of Agriculture have confirmed the Emerald Ash Borer is in Kansas City.
The beetle is destructive to Ash Trees. The pest came into the country about a decade ago and has destroyed millions of trees. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to protect your property.
"We're gonna have to transition from losing some of these trees to planting other types of trees in a more diversified urban forest," says Kevin Lapointe, the City Forester for Kansas City. "That's the goal."
The Emerald Ash Borer has been found in 17 states across the country.
