Three people escaped a house fire in Merriam, Kansas, early Wednesday morning.
Overland Park and Shawnee fire crews responded to a house fire in the 4800 block of Knox just after 1:30 a.m.
Smoke and fire was reportedly showing from the two-story home when crews arrived.

Three males escaped the blaze without injury after one woke up to flames in a downstairs bedroom. He then alerted the others to get out of the residence.
The fire spread up into the second floor, but firefighters had it contained in about thirty minutes.
The Red Cross is providing housing for the three men.
Incense left burning unattended may be to blame, but an exact cause has not yet been determined.
The investigation is ongoing.
