With Twitter’s help, Kansas City police identified two suspects caught on camera ramming a car into Ponak's Mexican Kitchen.

When Jadiel Hernandez saw the picture police posted online, he immediately recognized the women.

"I was like 'Yeah, those two are my old roommates,'" Hernandez told 41 Action News.

Hernandez decided to call the tip in. The next day, police were able to track down the women, who they say were caught on camera slamming a Ford Focus into Ponak's on July 1.

Because parts of the building date back to the 1920's, some of the materials used to build the exterior wall will be hard to track down. That means repairing the damage is going to be costly.

"The estimate was far above what I expected. They told me it could be as high as $200,000," Ponak's General Manager John Greer said of the damages.

In the meantime, the restaurant is open with a painted board covering the hole that is about 4 feet wide, and Greer is relieved to know the women in the video were identified.

"Thank you very much. I couldn't have -- or the police could not have caught them without all the people recognizing the people off of social media," Greer said.

Hernandez told us he has been called a snitch on social media, but he is also getting praise for calling police and putting the Twitter picture in perspective.

"It was the right thing to do. I was just like they should own up to it," he said.

Charges are pending, so the women’s names have not been released.
