KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Two Kansas City police officers were taken to the hospital Sunday night after a Chevy Tahoe slammed into their police cruiser at 43rd and Paseo.
It happened at 10 p.m., and police said the driver of the Tahoe ran a stop sign.
The officer in the driver seat took the brunt of the impact and was knocked unconscious. First responders had to cut him out of the car and take him to the hospital.
Sgt. Bill Mahoney said the driving officer had regained consciousness before leaving the scene.
The officer in the passenger seat went to the hospital with minor injuries, Mahoney said.
The driver of the Tahoe, a 20-year-old man, is in custody while police investigate if he was impaired.
