UMKC's School of Medicine partnered with the Grandview Fire Department for an EMS Field Day.
Students watched as rescuers simulated a serious car crash.
Instructors said the simulations show students what a patient might go through and the injuries they may have.
"It's one thing for the paramedic to tell the resident that the car had 30 inches of intrusion. It's another thing for them to see what that means," Physician Jay Reich said.
Some students said it was an eye-opening experience.
