Rockhurst college students and neighbors took to flowerbeds along Independence Ave. for the Community Improvement District's first planting of the year. They planted flowers in front of several businesses.
Bobbi Baker has lived in the Northeast for the last twenty years and says she has seen great improvement that others need to know about.
"The perception that we battle is that it is full of crime and it is not full of crime," she said. "It is full of great things happening. It is full of new families coming in. It is full of volunteers coming in to make things better."
