It's a picture Amanda Scarpinati has looked at her whole life.
"That picture never leaves my thoughts," Scarpinati says.
Taken in 1977, it shows Amanda at three months old, covered in bandages with third degree burns from a hot steam humidifier, wrapped up in the arms of a 21 year old Albany Medical Center nurse whose compassion was apparent.
Just recently - Amanda posted the about her mission to find the nurse on Facebook. It was shared thousands of times - and the right person saw it.
"I said oh my God, that's Sue Berger," said Angela Leary, a school nurse in Delmar.
Leary recognized Sue Berger - who now lives near Syracuse - from working together nearly 40 years ago. And she contacted Amanda.
