Ohio judge orders unusual public punishment

CLEVELAND, Ohio - An Ohio judge ordered an unusual public punishment for a convicted man.

Richard Dameron, 58, was convicted of threatening police officers on 911 calls.

So, the judge ordered him to hold an apology sign outside a Cleveland police station describing himself as an idiot.

Dameron started his sentence Monday and must stand outside for three hours each day for the rest of this week.

He says he was drinking before he made those calls.

"I'd been under the influence of alcohol. I was very deeply into it and I just got to rambling off and started acting like fools, a couple of us. I apologize for everything I've done and i do feel bad about it," Dameron said

This isn't the first public shaming ordered by this judge. Last year a woman was ordered hold a similar sign after she was caught on video driving on a sidewalk to avoid stopping at a school bus stop.
