On May 5, 1862, at the Battle of Puebla, the Mexican Army defeated the French Army.

In 2017, on May 5, Port Fonda in Westport will easily defeat any sadness or boredom you may be feeling.

It’s Cinco de Mayo!

The fiesta starts at Port Fonda at 11:00 Friday morning.

Much earlier than that, the street out front was blocked off and ready for celebration.

Inside, Chef Julio was preparing just one of the authentic dishes that will be served over the weekend: Tacos De Lengua.

Yes, braised beef tongue. Meaning you can bite your tongue without pain, just pleasure.

Port Fonda has been serving up the real deal in Mexican food and drink since 2012, winning multiple awards along the way, as well as rave reviews from The New York Times, GQ and Food and Wine Magazine.

But, for this Cinco de Mayo weekend, the only review that matters is yours and, if Chef Julio has anything to say about it, you’ll be in full fiesta mode with great food, great music, great fun.
