When you think of President Harry Truman, you think of… The Parthenon!

No?

How about: When you think of President Harry Truman you think of… Amelia Earhart!

No, again?

Well, the Truman Library and Museum is out to change your thinking, every Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m., from now through September.

It’s called White Glove Wednesdays, an exclusive chance to see for yourself and learn about rarely seen artifacts from the library’s collection. The experts at the museum have been rummaging around the closets and have found some items that are both historically significant and worthy of discussion.

For example, July 12, they’re talking Boy Scouts… Greek Boy Scouts. President Truman was presented with a medal signifying that he was an honorary Greek Boy Scout and given a chunk of The Parthenon.

Another example of something lurking in the shadows at the library is as fresh as the day’s headlines: Amelia Earhart’s 1928 aviation license, signed by Amelia and Orville Wright.

Museum Registrar John Miller says the stories about how Mr. Truman came into possession of these things is often as interesting as the items themselves.

For the price of admission, you can make your summer Wednesdays historic and historical!
