KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Mizzou. Sporting Kansas City. The Kansas City Chiefs – they've all had successful seasons, and local bars are cashing in on their success.
One of those reaping the benefits, Harpo's in Westport. Amanda Rosen bartends at the popular bar and says this year, she makes double the tips on Mizzou game night – and they sell double the alcohol!
With Sporting Kansas City's winning game last week against Houston Dynamo, and Mizzou's Saturday's win against Texas A&M, both teams move along to play in championship games this upcoming weekend.
The bar is expecting their biggest crowd yet, and will have ordered extra food and drinks to be prepared.
The owner says this is the best season for business in the 23 years the bar has been open.
This doesn't surprised Rosen, who sees how happy fans are to watch the game with fellow Tigers. "The atmosphere – you're surrounded by a ton of people. Drinks are overflowing; sound's on loud, just the atmosphere," Rosen said.
Another great dilemma for a sports bar, deciding how many televisions to turn on – both teams play at 3 p.m. Saturday. Missouri will play in Atlanta, Georgia against Auburn. Sporting Kansas City plays at home against Real Salt Lake.
