KANSAS CITY, Mo. - As temperatures drop, the need for shelter rises, a need felt first-hand by one Kansas City mom and her 2-year-old son.
The mom and her son were found late Tuesday night on the streets of Kansas City, cold and without a home to stay.
The pair, a victim of abuse, had left her home but found all the shelters full.
"It was horrible," the mother said. "It was freezing and he (her son) really hadn't had that much sleep."
It wasn't until Jolene Robinson saw the mom and her son on the streets before giving them a place to stay – for one night at least.
"You're telling me you can't make room for two more people?" Robinson said? "You know it was getting very frustrating because it's cold outside."
While the mom and daughter are safe tonight, Robinson says she can't keep the pair too much longer and they've shifted their focus to a longer term solution.
