KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A woman was found fatally beaten in a Northland apartment shortly after residents reported a naked man covered in blood knocking on doors.
"He was trying to get somebody's attention, I could tell he was worried that he actually did something," witness Cheyenne Dail said.
Shortly after 7 a.m., Kansas City police were called to the Northpointe Apartments in the 7900 block of North Hickory.
"He was yelling that he had killed his girlfriend and people are after him and I seen him take off like up over here by the apartments," Dali said.
Police searched the area for more than an hour. Shortly after 8 a.m., police said they discovered a woman dead in an area apartment.
"My boyfriend heard her voice screaming for help," Audra said, who lives in the building next to the victim.
The bloody man was discovered after a car crash at 152 and I-435 shortly after 8:30 a.m., and is a person of interest in the woman's death, according to police.
"To see something like this happen it's just absolutely mind blowing. It's definitely scary; it makes me not want to be in this area anymore," Dail said.
