Woman rescued from Kansas City house fire

Dog did not survive

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A woman was rescued from a window on the second story of her home after it caught fire Wednesday morning.

It happened near 41st Street and Charlotte around 5:40 a.m. The fire started on the first floor.

The woman told 41 Action News her phone was dead and she couldn’t call for help. Luckily, her neighbors called for her and she said she was very grateful.

She said she tried to get downstairs, but was overcome by smoke. She went to a window where she was rescued by firefighters.

She suffered minor smoke inhalation, but refused treatment. Her dog did not survive.

A firefighter suffered minor injuries to his eye. He was treated at a local hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
