PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. --

A Prairie Village woman was robbed and shot in the 7900 block of Windsor just before 2 a.m. Sunday.

People that live nearby say they are very concerned about the violent act.

“That’s not really typical of this neighborhood," said Rachel Sarafin. "I generally feel pretty safe here. I walk my dog at night… you know stuff like that."

Police were initially called to an aggravated battery. When they arrived, they found a woman with a gunshot wound to her shoulder. She told police she had been robbed.

A gray minivan with unknown tags fled the scene with multiple white and or Hispanic suspects.

One neighbor says it was just a matter of time before the violence started creeping into this area.

“Pretty soon anyone who is upset [will] just pull out a gun instead of trying to talk about it,” said Lisa Ragsdale.

The woman is being treated at an area hospital. Police are still looking for the suspects and vehicle.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to call the Prairie Village Police Department at 913-642-5151 or the TIPS hotline at 816 474-TIPS.
