A robbery turned into a shooting in Westport early Thursday morning.
It happened near Broadway and Westport Road around 2 a.m.
Police said a woman and her boyfriend were walking down Westport Road when the suspect pulled out a gun, shot the woman and robbed them.
According to police, the woman gave the gunman her cellphone but he shot her anyway.
She was taken to the hospital in critical condition. She's since been upgraded to stable.
The Broadway area Community Improvement District hopes to improve safety in the area by adding more security and maintenance staff.
