KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City is host to a major volleyball tournament taking place at Bartle Hall and Municipal Auditorium this weekend (April 5-7) and next (April 11-13), bringing 1,800 people and nearly 900 junior volleyball teams.
The 2014 Asics Show Me National Qualifier in downtown Kansas City is one of 11 national qualifying events for the U.S.A. Junior National Championships.
The competition is free and open to the public.
The Kansas City Convention & Visitors Association estimates the economic impact of the event at nearly $12 million, and Kansas City has been selected as the host city of the competition through 2018.
Teams come from all over the country to the competition, and the Convention and Visitors Association estimate roughly 80-85 percent of attendees will travel from outside the Kansas City area.

Saturday, April 5, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Sunday, April 6, qualifying play continues from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Monday, April 7, playoffs will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday, April 11, qualifying play goes from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday, April 12, qualifying play continues from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Sunday, April 13, playoffs will take place 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
