Man shot and killed by police during possible hostage situation in Farber, Missouri

A man in Farber, Missouri was shot and killed by police during a possible hostage situation on Thursday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office responded to an apartment in the area of Trabue Drive after receiving a call about the possible hostage situation.

According to findings from the preliminary investigation, when officers arrived, a man inside the apartment was armed with a gun. He moved toward the officers with the gun and failed to obey their commands. The officers discharged their weapons and the subject sustained gunshot wounds.

He was transported by Staff for Life to the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

No one else was injured during the incident.

Police are continuing to investigate.
