MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) - A 14-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly driving drunk while his father reportedly sat intoxicated in the front passenger seat.
The Daily Republic reports that the boy and his 49-year-old father, both of Mitchell, were arrested shortly after midnight on Interstate 90 near Mount Vernon on Aug. 5.
Police caught up to the vehicle after receiving reports that the boy was driving.
The boy's blood-alcohol content level was 0.165, more than twice the legal limit to drive. The boy was arrested for drunken driving, while the father was arrested on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and having an open alcohol container in a vehicle.
They are both out on bond and scheduled to appear in court later this month.
