SAN DIEGO - San Diego Mayor Bob Filner is prepared to resign Friday, if the San Diego City Council accepts the proposed deal that came out of this week's mediation, Scripps station KGTV has confirmed.
Filner is expected to make the announcement immediately after the council votes in a closed session, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday.
There was no word on what form Filner's statement would be, whether it be in person, written in a news release or a DVD -- all methods Filner has used since sexual harassment allegations rocked the city.
Meantime, as part of the proposed mediation deal, sources told KGTV that Irene McCormack Jackson, who filed a civil suit against Filner, was going to accept a six-figure settlement deal.
The City Council would also have to vote on that settlement.
