HOUSTON - Investigators say several people held captive in a Houston, Texas home, possibly for weeks, have been freed.
At a press conference Friday, police officials say they were called Friday to the residence for a welfare check on information that men were being held against their will in a converted garage area in the home.
According to police, four men were forced to live in less than standard living conditions; they had no beds, no bathrooms and minimal furniture. Officials said there were locks on the doors and they could not leave on their own free will.
The men told investigators that they were forced to hand over their Social Security checks and or VA checks.
