NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans has had about two dozen new homes built with a modern flair and the latest energy-efficient technology, thanks to Brad Pitt's Make It Right Foundation.
Valeria Schexnader was one of the first to rebuild and return. She says others followed because of the new homes.
"If it wasn't for Brad Pitt doing what he did, I might be the only one on the street by myself right now," she said.
But she's frustrated that many homes and businesses are still destroyed, even seven years after Hurricane Katrina.
Pitt's foundation is planning to convert an abandoned school in Kansas City into similar housing.
