Reports indicate Macy's might break tradition and open its stores Thanksgiving Day

Was it only a matter of time?

Could Macy's really be breaking a 155-year tradition?

There are reports that Macy's will open on Thanksgiving Day and stay open for 24-hours straight.

One employee told the Chicago Sun-Times that she received a memo stating the store would open on Thanksgiving night at 8 p. m.

Macy's has not responded to the reports.

The trend started in 2012 when Wal-Mart and other retailers announced they would open their stores at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

In 2011 many stores began opening at 12 a.m. on the morning of Black Friday the day after Thanksgiving.
