The Secret Service investigated a suspicious vehicle parked near the White House Tuesday morning.
Streets around the White House were shut down and Metro says one entrance to the McPherson Square subway station was closed while authorities investigated.
Buses were also expected to experience delays in both directions.
Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary says the vehicle was reported just before 5 a.m. in the area of the White House and the Department of Veterans Affairs. He declined to say what made the vehicle suspicious.
The scene was cleared a little before 6:45 a.m. ET.
