Bonner Springs, KS may be only 7,300 people, but residents proved Friday they have big opinions on the upcoming presidential election.

41 Action News spent the day in the small town which lies just a half hour from the heart of downtown Kansas City. The repeating themes from locals: jobs, immigration and lack of trust towards both candidates.

Regarding Trump vs. Clinton:

"Most everyone you talk to feels like there is no good choice,” said Martin Theno, manager at DeGoler Pharmacy on Oak Street.

Bruce Breslow is the owner of Moon Marble Company. He echoed the same sentiments.

"People are a little nervous about the election,” he said.

"Of the candidates, um, not real fond of either one of them,” said Dave Jackson, resident of Bonner Springs for over a decade.

"It's a shame to be an American almost because of the corruption that's going on in government," said resident David Smith. "I would rather have somebody in there that doesn't know anything about anything and isn't influenced by anybody else."

On Immigration:

"We need to take care of our own people and our vets here at home instead of taking care of people that's been in civil war for 5,6, ten thousand years,” said Smith.

"I think we need to take care of our people here first. Our vets, our homeless,” said resident Terri Oswald.

On Jobs:

"We need jobs. There's a lot of people out here that need help,” said Smith

"Small business is real important here. We got a nice downtown area,” said resident James Johnson.

Equal Rights:

"Especially the equality. I think everybody respects each other here but that needs to expand across the country,” added Johnson.
