Democrat Emanuel Cleaver has won a seventh term in Congress representing the Kansas City area and western Missouri.
Cleaver defeated Republican Jacob Turk and Libertarian Roy Welborn on Tuesday to win in the 5th District. It was sixth straight general election in which Cleaver has overcome a challenge from Turk, a Lee's Summit resident.
Cleaver was first elected to Congress in 2004. He is also a Methodist pastor and was Kansas City's mayor from 1991 to 1999.
