ST. LOUIS - Now that the partial government shutdown is over, national parks and monuments are reopening.
St. Louis' gateway arch is among the national sites that are back in business Thursday following the 16-day shutdown.
Local news media report the 630-foot-tall monument draws about four million people each year, making it one of Missouri's largest tourist attractions.
The old courthouse, another St. Louis attraction, will also open its doors today.
Combined, both sites will welcome back 75 furloughed workers.
