The Farmer’s House just opened its third location in Westwood, Kan., after opening two markets in the Weston area.

It was founded in 2006 by two families after wanting to provide a future for their children with developmental disabilities.

Many of the goods are local. Co-founder Peaches Cunningham says every time you buy their jam, jelly or other food items, you help create a job for one of their “farmers.”

Cunningham says, “We all go to work every day and you feel good at the end of the day that you’ve accomplished something. Not only do they have that, they have a sense of community, build a group of friends around them.  We are all about having fun at the Farmer’s House.”

Money goes back into programs like their market program, as well as job coaching.
