JoCo District Attorney working to oust Prairie Village city councilman

PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. - Johnson County officials are working to remove a city councilman from office amid allegations of misconduct.

Prairie Village City Councilman David Morrison is accused of criminal trespass and theft, according to District Attorney Steve Howe. The D.A.'s office filed ouster proceedings against Morrison on Thursday.

Morrison came under fire last November for allowing a homeless friend with a criminal record to sleep at City Hall.

According to a formal complaint, Morrison gave his security access code to his friend, who then had access to the employee lounge, workout facility, locker room and a public records storage room.

At an ethics hearing in November, the city council voted unanimously to recommend he be removed from office.
