Johnson County Sheriff's office hosts tweet-along

JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. - You may wonder what happens on the other side of the phone when you call 911.

That's why the Johnson County Sheriff's Office held a tweet-along from inside its communications center Thursday night.

The event is a virtual ride-along where officers use the hashtag #Jocotweetalong to show others what they do on a daily basis.

"We're able to share a lot of pictures -- a lot of videos -- and give them a lot more information than we otherwise could have prior to social media," Deputy Tom Erickson said. "Ultimately, it has given us a better face to the public. It has allowed people to connect with us a lot better."

This is the Johnson County Sherrif's second tweet-along event. The first one gave people an inside look into the county jail.
