LENEXA, Kan. - City council members in a Johnson County, Kan., community voted unanimously late Tuesday night to allow the open carry of firearms.
The vote at Lenexa City Hall took until after 10 p.m. to conclude
The change takes effect next Tuesday.
The weapon must be in a holster with the safety on. Weapons aren't allowed at city-sponsored events where alcohol is served.
The council also approved an extension of the conceal carry limitations that were supposed to go into effect on July 1. They will now go into effect on Jan. 1.
