Shawnee airman dies in accidental fall in San Antonio

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - An accident last weekend in San Antonio has claimed the life of a Johnson County airman.

Peter Clevinger, 25, of Shawnee, Kan., died early last Sunday morning after falling from a parking garage in downtown San Antonio.

While the circumstances of the death remain under investigation, the family says Clevinger was in San Antonio while serving as an Airman 1st Class at Lackland Air Force Base.

Reached Thursday night, Ralph Clevinger, Peter's father, said his son had joined the Air Force after starting his own production company.

Before that, Clevinger said his son was a four-year starter for the soccer team at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan.

Peter Clevinger graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Overland Park, Kan., where he was also a key member of the soccer team, helping the squad to three state championship titles.

Ralph Clevinger said his son is survived by his father, mother, two sisters and an older brother.
