KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The uncle of a murdered 8th grade boy is pleading for peace in the community.
Miguel Garcia, 14, was shot and killed in the 1400 block of Armstrong while walking down the street Saturday.
On Tuesday, Miguel's uncle, Jorge Barbosa, Garcia's mother and sister addressed cameras just a few blocks away from where Miguel was killed.
"Let this be the last boy killed over this," Barbosa said. "Stop the violence please. We beg you. We ask you. Stop the violence."
Barbosa said Miguel loved helping people, especially his mother, and was looking forward to working in the Army and as a mechanic.
A vigil is planned for Miguel at 6 p.m, Thursday, April 4, near the site of the shooting at 14th and Armstrong.
